Coexistence Mode is a feature of Meta's official WhatsApp Cloud API that lets a business run two things simultaneously on the same WhatsApp Business number:

  • Your WhatsApp Business App on your phone (for personal replies, camera sharing, voice notes)
  • A software platform like Mobibix (for automation, team inbox, menu bots, AI replies)

Both run at the same time. Neither blocks the other.

When a customer messages you, both your phone and Mobibix receive it. You can reply from either side. The bot only activates when your team is not actively handling the conversation.

When you connect via Continue with Facebook in Mobibix, we use Meta's Embedded Signup v3 with `featureType: "whatsapp_business_app_onboarding"` — the specific flag Meta requires for Coexistence.

Here is what happens behind the scenes:

  • Step 1: You authorise Mobibix via Facebook Login — Meta verifies your WABA (WhatsApp Business Account)
  • Step 2: We subscribe to your number's webhook — all incoming messages now flow into Mobibix's inbox in real time
  • Step 3: We trigger a data sync — your existing contacts and message history are pulled into the Mobibix inbox so you start with context, not a blank slate
  • Step 4: Your WhatsApp Business App continues working normally — you receive messages there too

No QR code. No web session. No unofficial hacks. This is Meta's official channel.

The Difference Between Coexistence and Cloud-API-Only

When you set up Mobibix, you actually choose between two modes:

  • Coexistence — Connect your existing number. Keep phone access. Best for 99% of shop owners.
  • New Number / Full Migration — Register a brandnew number directly on Cloud API. Your phone app loses access on that number. Only relevant for businesses setting up a dedicated support line.

For a small or medium repair shop owner, Coexistence is always the right choice. You do not need to change your phone setup at all.

What You Actually Get with Official API in Mobibix

Once connected, here is what changes for your shop:

  • Realtime Team Inbox: All messages appear in Mobibix's inbox, visible to your entire team. Assign conversations to specific staff members. No more checking "whose WhatsApp did the customer message?"

Is There a Risk of Getting Banned?

With the Official Meta Cloud API, the answer is no — as long as you follow Meta's policies. This is an officially approved integration. Meta does not ban businesses for using their own API.

The only time ban risk arises is:

  • Sending unsolicited bulk messages to numbers who have not messaged you first (Marketing policy violation)
  • Using unofficial Baileys/WhatsApp Web bots — which Mobibix does NOT use

Mobibix's automation only responds to inbound messages (customer messages you first), which is always policy-compliant.

How to Get Started

In Mobibix, go to WhatsApp → Dashboard. If you have not connected yet, you will see the service selector. Click Official Meta API, then Continue with Facebook. Log in with the Facebook account that manages your WhatsApp Business number. Follow the prompts — it takes about 3 minutes.

If you see a 6-digit PIN prompt, that is WhatsApp's two-step verification. Check your WhatsApp app for the notification.

Once connected, your phone keeps working exactly as before. Mobibix adds a layer on top — it does not replace anything.
